In the evening, we will all get together for a welcome dinner where we will get to know each other. We will be entertained by a Ghanaian cultural troupe and get introduced to some Ghanaian dance forms from different ethnic groups.
Today after breakfast, we will go and spend the day with a group of Ghanaian craftswomen:
Tie Dyes & Batiks
Bead making etc.
We will experience the daily chores of these women as we take part in working with them. Once we return back to our hotel, you will have free time to do whatever your heart desires.
Today after breakfast, we will attend a durbar of chiefs and people. We will witness the traditional chiefs all dressed in their traditional regalia i.e. gold ornaments, kente cloth, traditional sandals etc ride in their palanquins to the durbar grounds. You will experience a unique culture and tradition with lots of drumming and dancing.
After dinner, we go out to one of Ghana’s finest Jazz clubs where we will enjoy not only jazz, but highlife and Afro pop music performed by a live band.
Today we get into small groups of 4 members and each group will spend the day with a Ghanaian family to cook and have dinner. You will learn some great Ghanaian recipes and enjoy a typical Ghanaian family experience. Return to your hotel later in the evening.
Our final day in Accra will be our day we take in some sites. We will depart Accra very early to the Central Region to visit Kakum National Park, a tropical rainforest in the heart of the Attandaso reserve, for an adventurous and breathtaking walk on the 'Canopy Walkway', it is composed of 350 meters of suspended bridge and six platforms at a height of 60 meters (100ft).
After lunch visit Cape Coast Castle and take a tour of this infamous slave dungeon, built in 1653 by the Swedes and later taken over by the British. This was used during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade as a holding point for captives. It also houses the West African Historical Museum. Visit the West African Historical Museum.
