Travel with a purpose and join Sisters Traveling Solo for our Cultural Experience to Morocco.  Our cultural experiences are designed to be less touristy and focus more on understanding the culture, people and history of each Country we visit. 

 

During our trip in Morocco we spend time in Casablanca, Chefchaouen (the Blue City), and Fes!

This trip to Morocco was designed to give you a better understanding of the history of Morocco from the eyes of Moroccan women.  From learning about Moroccan herbal medicine and beauty secrets; visiting women's craft association for the blind, taking a cooking class with local village women, having a couscous dinner with a local Moroccan family; to and staying/renting out entire traditional Moroccan Raids; this trip allows you to get a deeper understanding of Moroccan culture.

9 Days, 8 Nights - 2 Nights in Casablanca, 3 Nights in Fes, 3 Nights in Chefchaouen 
 

*Note: Our travel from the Tetouan airport to Chefchaouen is 1.5 hour drive. From Chefchaouen to Fes will require a 3 hour drive. Our travel from Fes back Casablanca will require a 3.5 hours .  All guest will fly in and out of Casablanca.

Morocco is a huge country and the drives can be long. To help make the drive smoother we have rented two luxury vans that are wifi capable.

Double rooms will be shared; 2 members per room.  If there is a member you would like to room with let us know.  If you do not have a roommate, don't worry, we will match you up with another Sister.  

— Passport Required  

 

A valid passport is required to travel to Morocco.  The passport must be valid for 6 months past the trip return date.  Attendees are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary documents to travel out of their Country.

 

Depending on your Country of residency, a visa may also be required.  Attendees are responsible for obtaining the necessary visa.

— Itinerary 

 

DAY 1 (March 2) - Casablanca 

Arrive at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. You will be met by one of our drivers, and transferred to our hotel for a welcome tea and a short orientation. After check-in, take the rest of the afternoon at leisure rewinding from the long flight.

In the evening, we will all get together for a welcome dinner at family estate hosted by a local Chef. Over dinner, we will get to know each other. 

 

DAY 2 (March 3) -  Chefchaouen

Today after breakfast, we will check out of our hotel in Casablanca.  We take a guided walking tour of Hassan II Mosque.  The Hassan II Mosque is the largest mosque in Morocco and the 13th largest in the World.    

After our tour we will have lunch at a local Moroccan restaurant.  Once our lunch is over, we will head to the airport and depart for Tetouane airport. After one hour of fly time we land in Tetouane where our drivers will pick us up and transfer us 1.5 hours to Chefchaouen.

Upon arrival into Chefchaouen we will check into our Riads.  Later in the evening we will have dinner at one of our Riads. 

 

DAY 3 (March 4) - Chefchaouen

Today after breakfast, we will take a 3-hour guided tour of Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen is situated between two peaks of the Rif Mountains.  It is considered the most beautiful town in all of Morocco by many who visit. It is an artsy place with white washed mountain homes making you feel as if you are in your own world. There is a balance of the type of popular tourism found in Morocco and the historical culture found here. The hues of blues will mesmerize the stoutest traveler. Chefchaouen is unlike other cities in Morocco.

On our tour we visit the women's craft association for the blind, Rass Al Maa waterfalls and laundry huts, and the daily market and carpet loon. 

We will have lunch at Darna's women’s home.  After lunch we are off to learn about some Moroccan beauty secrets at a workshop.  In the workshop we will learn how to make some natural beauty products at home.  Following our beauty secrets workshop, we head over to a Moroccan tea brewing demo. 

For dinner we will enjoy a Couscous dinner with a Moroccan family.

 

DAY 4 (March 5) - Chefchaouen

Today we depart for the national park in Chefchaouen.  We will enjoy an easy morning hike and picnic at Akchour waterfalls.  A little paradise on earth located 30 kilometers from the city of Chefchaouen in the valley of Talembote, the waterfall of Akchour is a pristine natural beauty and will guarantee an amazing scenery.  Depending on the temperature you will be able to take a dip in the water. 

After our picnic lunch at Akchour, we will head back to our Riads to freshen up before heading to our cooking class with some local village women. 

DAY 5 (March 6) - Fes

Our final day in Chefchaouen, we will check out of our Riads and give you about 6 hours of free time to enjoy our final moments in the Blue City. During your free time, you can check out more sights or treat yourself to a spa day as Chefchaouen is the relaxation capitol.

Late this afternoon we depart for Fes.  Our journey to Fes will take 3 hours.  Upon arrival into Fes will check into our Riads and enjoy a private dinner at our Riads. 

DAY 6 (March 7) - Fes

On our first full day in Fes we will start our day by taken a hidden medina architecture and history tour.  The hidden Medina tours showcase the alluring charm of the medina, the colorful streets and souks and the rich tapestry of life that exists within its ancient walls.

We will enjoy lunch inside the home of a Jewish Philosopher. 

After lunch we will enjoy a 1.5-hour traditional Hammam spa treatment massage.  The Moroccan Hammam has extreme importance to the Moroccan culture; it’s a weekly ritual. Moroccans have a traditional beauty regime of exfoliation, oils, natural masks, and massage; that has been practiced for generations.

We will finish our day with late afternoon tea and henna tattoo’s. 

In the evening we will enjoy a private performance and dance class by a traditional women’s troup before our dinner at our Riad.

DAY 7 (March 8) - Fes

We will start our final full day in Fes by visiting a traditional craftsman’s atelier to learn about traditional Moroccan weaving.

After lunch, we will attend a workshop that will give us an intro Moroccan Herbal medicine.  In this workshop we will learn the principles of traditional healthcare in a practical and hands-on introduction, followed by two medicine making activities.

We will explore the principles of tea making, and how to mix the perfect blend for our needs. At the end of this session we will prepare a blend to take home with us.  We will also learn to make a traditional beeswax salve for skincare, useful for burns and bites. Each of us will go home with their handmade salve.  

This evening we will have dinner at a local family restaurant. 

DAY 8 (March 9) - Casablanca

This morning we will check out of our Riad early to head back to Casablanca.  Our journey from Fes to Casabalanca will take 3.5 hours.  Upon arrival we will check into our hotel and enjoy some down time before meeting for lunch at the hotel restaurant. 

Later in the afternoon we discover Casablanca!  We will visit a Jewish synagogue, des arts art center, view a private collection of art inside of the home of a well-known Moroccan artist, and finally visit a local gallery with 2 young Moroccan women artist. 

We will enjoy our farewell dinner and have a little fun dancing at a local live music venue. 

DAY 9 (March 10) - Depart Casablanca

On our final day, we will enjoy breakfast and begin to departure to Casablanca International Airport to Tetouan airport. The last transfer will depart at our noon check out time.

Private Facebook Group - Once deposit has been paid, you will receive an invitation to our private Facebook group.  In the group, we answer all questions you may have regarding your upcoming trip.  The private Facebook group allows you to connect with others before you go, share travel tips, and maintain friendships when you return.

'Know Before You Go' Call - To ensure you are all ready for your trip, we will hold a conference call two weeks before the trip to go over our 'Know Before You Go' document. 

Airport TransfersWe’ll arrange your airport pickup and drop off from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport.  And coordinate with our drivers to get you and a few others from the airport to our hotel.

Domestic Flight - One way flight from Casablanca International Airport to Tetouan airport.

 

Local Transportation - All ground transportation to and from our activities.

 

Accommodations - 9 days, 8 nights at 5 Star Accommodations Star (6 nights in Riad, 2 nights in hotel)  in Morocco

Riad Lodging Chefchaouen - we have rented two Riads for this trip; both within walking distance of each other.  The Riads have both single and double occupancy rooms.  There will be no room change after booking.  All rooms have a private bathroom.

Riad Lodging Fes - we have rented one huge Riad that will accommodate all of our guest.  The Riad has both single and double occupancy rooms.  There will be no room change after booking. All rooms have a private bathroom.

Roommates – If you do not have a paid roommate, we will pair you with another STS member.  If you have a roommate who has paid their deposit, please provide us with their name and we will pair you two.

Shared Double Room - $2,795 per person

Deposit Required - $255 per person; 10 Monthly Payments - $254

Single Room - $3,295 per person

Deposit Required - $305 per person; 10 Monthly Payments - $299

Deposit due to guarantee booking.  Deposit for this trip will be refundable up until February 1, 2018.  After February 1, 2018 the deposit becomes non-refundable deposit.  If you cancel your trip your deposit can be applied to a future Sisters Traveling Solo (STS) trip.

 

— Payment Terms   

Full Payment Special - $150 off total cost if full payment is made on 12/1/17 - $2,645 per person for shared double room.  $3,145 for single room

Pay Remaining Balance over 10-month period (February - November) - Payments for this trip will begin February 1, 2018.  We will not take any payments before then. 

 

Monthly payment is total cost of $2,795 double occupancy ($3,295 single occupancy) minus trip deposit dividend by 10. Payments are due on the 1st of each month regardless of when deposit is made.  Payments must be made on time.

A $75 late charge will be applied to all payments made after the 3-day grace period.  Missed payments will be applied to the next month plus the $75 late fee. Trip will be automatically cancelled after two missed payments.  No refund of deposit or payments will be provided to a trip cancelled due to missed payments. If trip is cancelled due to missed payments, trip deposit cannot be applied to any future Sisters Traveling Solo trips.

Your trip must be paid in full by November 1, 2018. Please contact us if you are having difficulties making your payment.

 

 

— Refund Policy   

Deposit Refund - Deposit will be refundable up until February 1, 2018.  After February 1, 2018, deposits will be non refundable.

 

Payment Refund - Payment refunds minus the nonrefundable deposit will be given up until April 1, 2018. 

Non-refundable deposit due to guarantee booking.  If you cancel your trip your deposit can be applied to a future Sisters Traveling Solo (STS) trip if your trip is not cancelled because of missed payments.  If your trip is cancelled due to missed payments, you cannot apply the deposit to any future STS trips.  Deposits cannot be applied to payments of another trip.  Deposits can only be applied to the deposit of a future trip that you are currently no making payments on.

Travel Insurance - Travel Insurance is not provided but is REQUIRED to attend this trip.  You will be asked to show proof of travel insurance before we depart for Morocco.  A minimum of $250,000 in travel insurance is REQUIRED.
