Dakar is an energetic and fast paced city with incredible people, beautiful coastlines, great music and sumptuous cuisines.  A visit to Dakar is an experience of a lifetime!

During our  days, 7 and 6 nights we’ll experience the culture in Senegal.

Includes:  4.5 Star Accommodations, shared airport transportation, tour activities and meals as listed in the below itinerary. *Itinerary subject to change; final itinerary to be provided 4 weeks before trip departure date.

*Note: Twin beds maybe in close approximately to one another, but there will be two separate beds

Payments - Non Refundable - Trip payments will start on February 15th.

 

1st trip payment will be due on February 15, 2020.  Non refundable payments due on the 15th of each month. Monthly payments are due on the 15th regardless of when the deposit is made.  
 

Double Occupancy - $320 per person for shared room; (2 people per room) (2) two twin beds x (7) Months 

Single Occupancy - $420 per person for single room; (1 person per room) (1) one full sized bed x (7) Months

— Roommates  

 

Anyone without a roommate will be paired with another member on the trip.  If you have a roommate, you will be asked for your roommate information (2) months before the trip departure date.  Please avoid emailing us your request after booking.

— Things To Note:  

 

- This is a group trip and there will be times where you have to wait on group members and our tour bus, if you do not have the patience to wait 5 - 15 minutes do NOT book this trip. 

- Traveling to different parts of Africa requires that travelers be able to leave their American privileges back home.  If you are not able to travel with an open mind, this trip may not be for you.  Each traveler is encourage to do some basic research on the Country we are visiting before booking this trip. 

- Our trips like our group are positive spaces.  If you are a constant complainer, a person that cannot adapt to changes easily do NOT book this trip. Complaining brings negative energy to the trip experience and impacts other travelers.

— Itinerary 

DAY 1 (October 25th) -  Arrival Into Dakar, Senegal 

Upon arrival into Dakar, we will be transported via one of our preset group transfer times to our hotel in Dakar. After check-in, take the rest of the afternoon at leisure rewinding from the long flight.

In the evening, we will all get together for a welcome dinner where we will get to know each other.

DAY 2 (October 26th) -  City Tour, Renaissance Monument, Women's Shelter, Crafts

After breakfast, we start our day with a city tour. The last stop on our city tour will be the African Renaissance Monument. Standing at the height of 160 feet, this gigantic statue, which is bigger and taller than the Statue of Liberty, cannot be missed! The statue was unveiled in 2010 to mark Senegal's 50 years of independence. Once we finish up with our City tour, we will head to lunch at a local restaurant nearby.  

After lunch, we will visit one of the few women's shelters in Dakar. This shelter is home to women who have been abandoned because they were pregnant without being married.  At the shelter, we will share stories and interact with some of the kids.   

Once our time at the shelter is complete, we will head to the shopping village, where many women sell art and craft and homemade jewelry. 

Includes: Breakfast, Donation of $50  

*A donation of $50 per person has been included in the cost of this trip. The gift will be given to the women's shelter on the day of our visit. Or, if it found that supplies are more in need, our team will purchase supplies to the amount that was collected. Guests are welcome to give more in person at the shelter.  

DAY 3 (October 27th) -  Walk with Lions, Mangrove Boat ride

Today is all about the adventure! After breakfast, we will head (5) hours outside of Dakar to Toubacouta. Once in Toubacouta, we will visit the Fathala Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to walk with lions. There are only six countries in the world where you can walk with lions, Senegal is one of them! 

Stringent instructions will be given and MUST BE followed by anyone who chooses to partake in this optional activity. After the walk with the lions, we will enjoy a group lunch.  

Once our lunch is complete, we take a boat tour in the Mangrove. Going through the Mangrove, you will see oysters, bird watching, and so much more! Upon completion of our boat tour, we will head back to Dakar. 

Walk with lions is optional! There are no other activities that can be substituted instead of walking with lions.  Guest who choose not to walk with lions will wait for the guest who are participating int he activity to complete the activity.

DAY 4 (October 28th) - FREE DAY
 

Day 4 is yours to sleep in, lay poolside, or go shopping! 

Note: Trip tour guides or tour vehicles are not at guest disposal for free day activities. Guests should book their tours/vehicles' for their free day. Our team does not have the resources to assist with free day activity booking.

DAY 5 (October 29th) - Goree Island, Pink Lake

A visit to Goree Island is a journey back in time as you will hear about the painful memories of the slave era.  Goree Island has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!  The Island presents an array of monuments such as the house of slaves, la Maison des Esclaves, historic forts, colonial buildings, and monuments.  

Once our time at Goree island is complete, we will head to the pink lake, Lac Rose. Lac Rose lies north of the Cap-Vert peninsula of Senegal, some 30 km north-east of the capital, Dakar, in northwest Africa. It is named for its pink waters caused by Dunaliella salina algae and is known for its high salt content, up to 40% in some areas.

DAY 6 (October 30th) - Touba, Spiritual Guide

After breakfast, we will take a (3) hour drive from Dakar to Touba.  Touba is a city in central Senegal. With a population of 529,176 in 2010, it is the second most populated Senegalese city after Dakar. It is the holy city of Mouridism and the burial place of its founder, Shaikh Ahmadou Bàmba Mbàcke. 

While in Touba we will visit a mosque, cemetery and partake in a visit with a spiritual guide. 

 

Later this evening we will gather for our farewell dinner.

DAY 7 (October 31st) - Departure 

On our final day, we will enjoy breakfast and begin to depart back home.

Group Airport Transfers – Transfers will be arranged based on group travel times.  All guest will be transported as a group based on the closest arrival times.  Airport arrival transfers will begin at 5:00 AM local time.  Airport transfers will be arranged for the trip start and end date only. 

Meals - Meals as listed in the above trip itinerary

 

Local Transportation - All ground transportation to and from our activities.

Accommodations - 7 days, 6 nights in Dakar. This sophisticated, modern resort on the tranquil Cape Verde Peninsula boasts an address in the elegant Fann Corniche neighborhood.

 

Rooms will consist of one full or two twin beds based on occupancy.

Hotel Amenities Include: Air-conditioning, wireless internet, in-room safe, a satellite TV, minibar and tea/coffee making facilities.  Twin beds may be in close approximately to one another, but there will be two separate twin beds.

A detailed daily itinerary will be uploaded to the customer portal after (10) weeks of booking.

STS Apparel – Each guest will be provided with (1) T-shirt, and  (1) STS bag

— Payment Terms - Section contains updates to Terms as of 9/5/19 

Full Payment Special - $75 off total cost if full payment is made by 3/15/20. Cannot be used in conjunction with $75 off membership discount.  


Trip will be automatically canceled after ONE missed payment.  Payments are due on the 15th of each month. A (3) day grace period will be given to make trip payments each month. After the 3-day grace period ends (18th at 11:59 PM EST), the trip will be canceled.  No refund of deposit or trip payments will be provided for any reason. 

 

— Invoices

Payments will be made via an invoice. The invoice can be paid via Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, or Discover card. Invoices are sent to the email address that members provide.  It is the guest's responsibility to sign up for the client portal to make payments for each trip each month. (1) invoice is sent to all clients each month; invoices are sent to clients at least (10) days before they are due.

— Refund Policy

24- hour cancellation.  
 

The deposit will be refunded upon request 24-hours after the trip has been booked. After 24-hours of booking, no refunds of deposits will be given.

Non-refundable deposit and payments. After 24-hours of booking, no refunds of deposits or payments will be given.

 

​Deposit or Payment Transfer to Future Trips - Trip deposit nor payments made towards the trip can be applied to another trip. 

Trip Transfer of Deposit, Payments, or Total Trip to Another Guest - Guest cannot transfer trip deposit, payments or their trip to any other guest. 

We highly encourage you to purchase travel insurance if you have to cancel your trip for any reason covered.

Flights - International flights to or from Brazil 
 

Local Transport – Outside of the organized activities.


Meals – Lunches, or dinners not included above. No alcoholic beverages or desserts are included in any of the meals.

Beverages - Beverages outside of water are not included in trip price. 


Insurance – Neither travel or health insurance are included, but all members are REQUIRED to show proof of travel insurance (1) one month before the trip departure date. Minimum travel coverage required is $150,000.


Souvenirs - Cost of souvenirs.

Luggage Check-in Cost - Cost to check your luggage during inter-country flights or ferries.

Travel Visa - Any Visa required for the trip.


Gratuity - for Tour guides, Drivers, Hotel Staff, or Waiters. 


Tours/Excursions - Outside of the organized tours  


Additional Hotel Cost – Outside of what has already been arranged by Sisters Traveling Solo (STS).

Hotel Deposits - Members will be asked to put down a card credit for room incidentals.  This hold will be removed upon check out if not room incidentals were changed.  If you are in a double room, you and roommate should discuss who will put down their credit card beforehand. Noting that the 1st one to arrive at the hotel cannot check-in without putting down a credit card.  STS will not put down deposits for any room.

— Members Only Trip

You must be a member of Sisters Traveling Solo to book this trip.  Membership will be verified upon receipt of your deposit.  Non-members at the time of booking will be refunded.

— Required After Deposit Is Paid

Travel Insurance - Travel Insurance is not provided but is REQUIRED to attend this trip.  You will be asked to show proof of travel insurance before we depart.  A minimum of $150,000 in travel insurance is REQUIRED; coverage in total must cover (medical & evacuation). 

 

Sisters Traveling Solo will not travel with or include anyone in trip activities who don’t present the required travel insurance documentation at least 6 weeks before the trip departure date.  STS will alert you when and how to provide travel insurance information, please avoid emailing us any information.  When requested travel insurance information to include the requested coverage amounts and the dates that cover the span of our trip.
