The Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook community was created in 2016 after I read a comment online that said "Black women shouldn’t travel solo." As a Black woman who had already traveled solo, I knew that wasn’t true. At the time, there was no space for women who looked like me and traveled solo—so I created one. It became the first community dedicated to Black girls traveling solo.

With the support of our sisters, that community grew into the first travel company created specifically for Black girls traveling solo. Within two years, it became a million-dollar brand—showing the power of community and what can happen when women build together.

At Sisters Traveling Solo, we believe there is no single definition of going solo. For some, it means traveling completely on your own. For others, it means taking that step within a group setting. Both require courage, and both are valid. Our mission has always been to meet women where they are, while encouraging them to choose themselves and go—however solo looks to them.
