SOUTH AFRICA

DESTINATION OVERVIEW

South Africa has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes, weather and wildlife you can find in the world. Because each province has a different climate, the wildlife and lifestyle varies all over the country. South Africa is the world's biggest producer of gold, platinum, chromium, vanadium, manganese and aluminum-silicates. It also produces nearly 40% of the world's chrome and vermiculite.

Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbor and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum.

CITY TOUR

Our city tour includes stops at Bokaap, district six museum, and the long walk to freedom exhibit.  The Long March to Freedom exhibition is a collection of 100 life-size figures that will in time grow into a procession of over 400 bronze statues.

WINE TASTING

Our tour includes wine tasting at two different wineries. There is almost no such thing as an unattractive wine estate in Cape Town. Almost all benefit from dramatic views, fascinating architecture, and tranquility unlike anything else you’ll find in and around the city.

ROBBEN ISLAND

Robben Island is known for being the place former South African president Nelson Mandela was jailed for 18 of his 27 years, but the Island was the home of prisoners from outside South Africa, notably Namibia.
